FIRST DATE
Our first date was on May 3, 2015 at Paradise Lost Near Runda on Kiambu road.
THE PROPOSAL
It all happened on May 8, 2015 which was on my birthday. Raphael was attending a conference at Kigwa Hotel and he suggested that after work I meet him there briefly. When I got there I found a table set for two, a bunch of roses and I saw him go down on his knee and he proposed. What made it special is the fact that he never told me about it and it completely turned out to be a total surprise. Afterwards there was a big birthday cake.
THE DRAMA
The planning was OK but it was not an easy task. Our wedding theme was based on the colors we both love; blue and pink. I had also always dreamt of my bridal party wearing navy outfits but unfortunately, it never happened. Instead, I had scouts who marched ahead of us, which was pretty amazing.
We had a few challenges like the weather was bad due to the heavy rains, lack of communication to our friends who could not access invitation cards and the bride’s car not arriving on time on the wedding day. But the service providers delivered exactly what we expected. Glory to God almighty.
Also on the morning of the wedding, vehicles got stuck in the mud and it was so cold everyone had to keep warm. But a few hours later it was shining and immediately after the last prayer a heavy cloud shone. In all that happened, we learnt that you should never be swayed by what people are saying but just focus on our goals and targets because people can be misleading.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS
We decided to be different by having a ten-tier cake so we could honour both our grannies, something I have never seen in any of the weddings I have attended.
Cake cutting was the most beautiful moment because I decided to play hide-and-seek and the groom could not find me. He had to seek assistance from the whole bridal team to look for me for almost 10 minutes.
HONEYMOON
We went to Zanzibar. It was amazing. The best part was the quiet ambience and privacy of the hotel. The hotel staff were also very kind and they treated us really well.
