Life is a cocktail of events and lacks a guarantee that everything will go as planned. You will get hurt and disappointed more than once. Hurt and disappointment occurs more than once, pain brings anger, people hurt and break promises made, loss of a loved one or a job can also add to the bitterness

It is wise not to carry around bitterness as you live this life. What do you do after that?

There are some steps to help take away the bitterness and help you live a better life.

Talk: You may want to talk to a friend or someone you completely trust. Let them know about your experience, how hurt you are and if you need help. For some prayer gives them peace as they get to off load their bitterness.

Forgive: Learn to forgive and let go. This is quite hard and may seem impossible but don’t worry, take it a step at a time. With time you will feel better and in charge of your life. Forgiveness frees you from what was holding you captive, be it a person or a situation. Forgive yourself too and don’t be too hard on yourself, you are doing the best you can.

Avoid re-telling: According to patheos.com, It is okay to talk to somebody but avoid re-telling your situation over and over again. Try to forget and move on, retelling helps you remember the events again and again.

Act: Do something good that makes you smile, you owe yourself happiness so do everything in your power to feel great. You can enjoy a delicious dish or even hook up with friends. Do this every time you feel low.

Try these tips to help you move on with life with no weight on your shoulders, always remember to take one day at a time.

It is advisable however to see a counselor to help you manage when you feel you cannot make it on your own.
