Easy haircare tips for men

Living

Haircare for menWhen issues of hair are addressed, many a times the focus is on women. But men too need hair tips to spruce up their looks. Here are a few easy tips for men:

Identify a personal stylist: Find a good stylist either in a barbershop or salon and stick with him or her. A personal stylist knows one’s hair type and will treat it accordingly. This makes work easy. The stylist knows the style that suits each person and when it is time for a switch.

Haircut: If you love the 1970s afro, go for it, but remember to go for regular trims for it to stay neat. For those who love it short, you can keep your hair looking fresh by visiting your stylist at least once a month. No woman likes a man with an unkempt mane.

Products: Beauty shops and supermarkets stock male hair products. You will get brands exclusively meant for men that have great scents and will easily maintain your man’s hair.

Maintenance: You have identified your stylist and have discovered the haircut that suits you. You now must maintain your look by going for regular trims, washing your hair everyday and using the right shampoo, among other things.

If you prefer cleaning your hair at home, the following tips would be helpful:

1. Choose a nice shampoo: It should be soothing and aromatic. Any basic shampoo will do; you don’t have to use an expensive one.

2. Massage the shampoo into your hair gently. Use your fingertips not nails to massage your scalp. Rinse your hair thoroughly before towel drying it.

3. Use a good conditioner that will moisturise your hair. The conditioner ensures your hair does not tangle.

4. Unlike women, this is more or less the last stage of cleaning your hair. You, therefore, need to groom it well by using the right tools. A brush for short hair or a wide toothed comb for those who prefer keeping an afro will be good enough.

5. You can then style your hair to your taste. Maintain a style you can manage on your own on a daily basis and within a few minutes.

6. Visit your trusted stylist regularly for haircuts.
