Ati now a campus boy is hitting on me,and I am mother of two!

Like so many forward-thinking career mums, I’m back to class for my master's degree. The other day, I was on campus to make some inquiries on a few things in the wake of the lecturers’ strike.

I was seated at the cafeteria, minding my own business, trying to scroll through my phone like the rest of the younglings. I was struggling to look cool and trendy; a cool mum of two in jeans, earphones and a cap. I was happy that I was really blending in. It’s nice as a mum sometimes to just be among young people and they treat you like one of them.

So where am I going with this? Walk with me. I was sipping my cold soda, just chilling then this chap, I bet it was a third year with some real guts, walks over and goes like: “Hey beautiful, need any help, I could show you around?”

I almost choked on my soda. Now how do I respond to this boy who is hitting on me and he probably has no idea that I could be his aunt. That cool aunt perhaps.

Anyway, I politely greeted him and started to walk away. Clearly, there’s nothing a sober 30-something career mum of two, happily married can discuss with a horny 20-year old.

And guess what? He continued in his evil mission engaging me in idle chatter as I slowly fled towards the admin block.

“What’s your name? Oh what course are you pursuing? Yada yada...”

All through as we awkwardly walked side by side, I remained mum. There was nothing to say to this sex-hungry boy who thought he has landed himself a hot cougar.

When I realised he was not going to stop, I gave him a piece of my mind.

“Young man, look I am old enough to be your mum (I lied). Please try your luck with those small girls giggling all by themselves.”

And it’s like my furious reaction turned him on, making him bolder and persistent.

“Easy beauty, I know you are older than me and that is the more reason I wanna get hooked up with you. These campo chics are boring that’s why our eyes are set on hot and mature mamas like you,” he said with a sickening sly tone.

His forthrightness and boldness was out of this world. Call me a coward but that is how I ducked to the ladies and stayed there until I was sure the coast was clear. What is the world coming to?

Many of my friends have also had similar encounters with these young campus boys and it is worrying. Some daring mamas play along, but I can’t stand it.

Call me old fashioned, but if I was to stray, I would rather go for a mature sponsor than a Ben 10. For me, being a mother of a boy-child, dating a Ben 10 is child abuse.
