Kenyan dancehall musician Shavey famed for the song Gyal in a collabo with Slice has passed away.
Details of his passing are still scanty and music industry players and artists are condoling with his family, friends and legion of fans.
“Rest in peace Shavey of the duo shavey n slice popularly known for the hit single'gyal' shine on your way bro,” wrote Grandpa Records.
The dancehall superstar made waves in 2009 with the hit that made topped charts in Jamaica.
Although Gyal arguably still remains the best dancehall song in Kenya, his fortunes dwindled and his fame hit rock bottom.Trying to make ends meet, he had to make due with being a matatutu conductor in buses plying the Kayole route.
In September 2013, he was arrested by the Kayole area chief after he was nabbed breaking into a butchery to steal meat. His partner Slice faded off from the limelight altogether. Efforts to make a comeback fell flat.
