The family of the late millionaire lawyer Mathews Oseko have denied allegations doing rounds that their daughter misused millions collected for late advocate’s funeral.
Dr Julie Oseko, the deceased’s wife, has denied these claims and asked those in doubt to contact her directly instead of talking behind their back.
“Approximately Sh2.8 million was raised to meet funeral expenses and the cash was accounted for by the committee, in which my daughter, Christine Oseko, was treasurer,” she said, adding that, “The said Sh2.8 million covered funeral expenses and the family even topped up more cash.”
“Everybody could see the number of visitors we had and the stature of the man whose family they now want to besmirch. I appreciate efforts of friends and relatives, but family affairs should remain private,” she told The Nairobian.
Asked about allegations that part of the funeral harambee also included education fee and that one of the late lawyer’s daughters was out of school for lack of fees, Dr Oseko said:
“My daughter who is studying abroad is in the final phase of writing a paper and that doesn’t require rocket science to navigate. Give us a break and let the family heal,” said the mother of four daughters.
Dr Oseko, popular for mentoring young magistrates, lawyers, law students and girls, added that by virtue of her job, she has encountered the plight of widows and their children thrown under the bus by relatives who are malicious and want to reap from the wealth of the deceased.
