A nine year old mentally retarded girl drowns in a well in Naivasha.

Naivasha,Kenya:Grief gripped residents of Goigoi village in Maella Naivasha after a nine year old mentally retarded girl drowned in a well.

The minor strayed into the well and opened it before falling in and the body was discovered minutes later.

According to a witness, the midday incident caught there unawares adding that efforts to rescue the minor were fruitless.

“The parents say that the minor left the house and they realized she was missing a few minutes later only to discover she had fallen into the well,” he said.

The deputy police boss said that the body had been taken to the Naivasha district hospital mortuary.
