Kenya Power kicks off search for Chief Executive Officer

NAIROBI, KENYA: The Kenya Power has kicked off a search for Chief Executive Officer

On Friday through a notice in newspapers, the power utility firm called on interested parties to apply for the post before September 6.

The incumbent will provide overall day-to-day leadership and administration of operations of the company under the guidance of the board besides developing and recommending to the board short, medium and long term strategies.

Other responsibilities will be to advise the board on operations, financial, investment planning, and sustainable development of company interests.

The candidates will be required to satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution including certificate of good conduct from Directorate of Criminal Investigations, a clearance certificate from Higher Education Loans Board and tax-compliance from KRA besides report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau.

The chief executive of Kenya Power, his immediate predecessor and 10 other senior managers at the company were last year charged with conspiracy to commit an economic crime and abuse of office.

The former CEO Ken Tarus, his predecessor, Ben Chumo, and the other executives pleaded not guilty to the charges.
