The winner was announced following a voting process where viewers were asked to cast their votes in favor of their preferred candidate through a free SMS code, championed by The Standard Media Group.

Five finalists, Waruguru Wa Kiai, Umulkheir Mohammed, Betty Adera, Nereah Amondi Oketch and Irene Mayaka battled for the ‘Ms President’ title.

The show that premiered on January 30 lowered its curtains today, July 31.

At its primary stage, the show attracted over 1,000 women and elimination reduced the number to 71. The 71 were then taken to the academy and further reduced to top 40 and later to top 16 and finally down to five contestants.

The contestants were subjected to group assignments and later individual presentations on issues beyond politics.

In all stages contestants sought to impress judges but last week Wednesday July 24,  2019, the final five made their final bid to woo viewers during the ‘Presidential Debate’ where they demonstrated confidence, eloquence and wit as they represented their home counties of Nyeri, Nyamira, Nairobi, Homa Bay and Garissa.

The key issues debated on were leadership, cultural diversity, involvement of women in violent extremism, labour rights, food security, technology and health.

It was now down to five contestants among them, Anne Waruguru Kiai, Betty Adera, Irene Mayaka, Nereah Amondi Oketch and Umulkheir Mohammed who were battling for the title of Kenya's first female president.

From Wednesday last week, Kenyans were granted a chance to vote for their preferred candidate of the Ms President Reality TV show that aired on KTN Home every Wednesday from 8-9pm.

The inspiration to come up with the "Ms. President" reality series in Kenya which is produced by Media Focus on Africa (MFA) is said to have originated from the Palestinian Ma'aan Television Network's highly popular program "The President", which involved choosing a young Palestinian to be the next Palestinian President.

The Executive Producers of the show were Media Focus on Africa, with its main sponsors being the European Union.
