National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga arrived at the home of Jimi Wanjigi on Tuesday night in Muthaiga, Nairobi.

Police were still manning the residence since Monday (October 16) despite a High Court order restraining them from the home.

While at Wanjigi’s compound, the former Prime Minister asked officers to obey the court order and leave the residence.

An agitated Raila indicated that the officers were operating outside the law and were applying rule of the jungle.

Wanjigi moved to court seeking to stop his arrest and a court stopped his arrest until September 19, granted him a Sh50,000 anticipatory bail and warned police against the destruction of the businessman’s property.

Detectives from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit and Flying Squad arrived at Wanjigi’s gate at about midday with sledgehammers and metal cutters to break into the ritzy house.

The officers showed guards on duty a warrant and said they wanted to conduct a search.

They found six pistols and one shotgun at the home but his family said they were licensed.

The fortified compound is opposite the official residence of the American ambassador to Kenya.

Raila had earlier condemned the violence that occurred in Laare, Meru County.

He accused the Jubilee leadership and the police of spearheading the chaos to disrupt the much-anticipated rally.

The Opposition chief stressed that the Government must stop frustrating NASA supporters ahead of the repeat presidential poll on October 26 and which he has pulled out from.

“The government must stop this alliance between thugs and security officers and the unconstitutional and reckless deployment of troops to annihilate NASA supporters,” he said.

The former Prime Minister had, also in a press statement, indicated that the anti-IEBC protests had been suspended until further notice.

He also announced that the coalition will, on Friday (October 20), hold rallies in honour of the victims that have lost their lives in the demos.

“In honour of the innocent victims of the State, our protests will stay suspended. On Friday, we will mark the memory of these victims as heroes of the struggle for electoral justice at a venue to be disclosed later. On that day, we shall communicate our next course of action,” Raila pointed out.

Friday happens to be Mashujaa Day, a public holiday.

The alliance holds a rally at Kamkunji, Nairobi, on Wednesday October 17 and another one in Turkana on Thursday.
