Former Mombasa Senator has vowed to defend the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba against NASA ahead of the repeat presidential election slated for October 26.

Hassan Omar, declared on Sunday that the National Super Alliance (NASA) is unfair in pushing for removal of Mr Chiloba without any evidence that he bungled the August 8 General Election.

Omar asked the IEBC CEO to ignore any calls for his resignation by the Opposition and continue with his job at the commission.

“I am ready to defend this young man because the Supreme Court found no culpability on any of the IEBC officials. You cannot support or respect one side of the decision and not the other,” Omar pointed out.

The former Wiper Party Secretary General, however, urged Chiloba to conduct the fresh presidential poll in a free, fair and credible manner.

NASA leader Raila Odinga has accused IEBC of working together with President Uhuru to compromise elections.

The former Prime Minister has on several occasions vowed to eject officials he believes bungled the presidential election in August.

“That is where reform at IEBC will begin. Kenyans are coming for you. Salvage what you can and run. There will be no election with you in office,” Raila declared in September.

Raila wants Chiloba and 10 other officials vacate office before the fresh poll.
