The bachelors: 11 most eligible politicians’ sons

News

When President Uhuru Kenyatta’s son Jomo declared that he was going to marry the granddaughter of the late Dr William Omamo, Fiona Achola, Kenyan women were heartbroken. One of the most eligible bachelors was off market at the virile age of 28.

But fear not. We have more eligible bachelors. Some might be dating, but they’re not taken yet. These are politicians’ sons. They are young jet-setters, future captains of industry, nabobs in government, mandarins of the corporate world and maybe, future presidential candidates.

They are scions of political dynasties, meaning getting hitched to one might be a meal ticket to Easy Street, where your offspring will never want for anything that won’t be provided by the pricking of your thumbs!

Muhoho Kenyatta

‘Mo’ is President Uhuru’s second-born son who doesn’t shy away from cameras. The 21-year-old is the creative brains behind Nomadic brand, a fashion line he started with friends from Peponi School, and in which his family has interests.

The fashion designer launched a khanga-inspired summer collection during the inaugural Kenya Fashion Week held at Royal Orchid. Mo has been rumoured to be dating Firyal Nur Al Hossain, daughter of Foreign Affairs CS Amina Mohammed.

Unlike Jomo, his elder brother, Mo is a party animal who once shocked revellers by blowing a princely sum at a nightclub in Nairobi three years ago.

Nick Ruto

The 30-year-old lawyer and businessman is the first son of DP William Ruto. He is also a certified party boy and is known to haunt high-end joints in Nairobi. Nick appears to be following in his father’s footsteps into politics.

He is said to be eyeing the Turbo parliamentary seat in Uasin Gishu, which is part of the larger Eldoret North, where his father was MP.

He has frequently accompanied his father to private functions where he has been given a chance to address the public.

Zachary Saitoti

The 30-year-old son of the late Internal Security minister George Saitoti who is known for his signature rugged look is a freelance photographer and proprietor of Nairobi’s Shifteye Studios.

The studio captures art in all forms - illustrations, poetry jam sessions, fashion, photography and music. When it comes to fashion, the alumnus of the University of the West of England has worked with the likes of designers Katungulu Mwendewa, Kooroo, DJ Cortega and Diana Opoti, among others.

Though he keeps his private life under wraps, Zachary is apparently in a relationship with Liz Elektra, the owner of Liqors Mobile Bar.

Alvin Kabogo

The son of Kiambu Governor William Kabogo is known for his lavish lifestyle. His pastime include partying, hanging out with friends, travelling and watching movies.

Currently in his 20s, the hunky Kabogo Jr recently broke Kenyan women hearts when he introduced his girlfriend of Arabic descent, Nour AlBahrani, as his better half.

The alumnus of the University of Brighton in England (BSc Business Marketing) is currently pursuing his second degree, a Master’s of Science in Marketing Strategy and Innovations at the University of Westminster, Marylebone Campus.

Alvin follows his father’s political career closely and when he lost to Ferdinand Waititu in this year’s party primaries, Alvin did not shy away from taking out his frustrations on Kiambu voters when he posted a photo of himself on his social media pages flashing the middle finger salute at them!

Kennedy Kalonzo

The first-born son of former vice president and Nasa luminary Kalonzo Musyoka, has been in the news over his controversial nomination to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) after garnering 22 votes out of 26 and beating Zeth Omollo and Temi Mutia.

The 27-year-old, who studied in Australia where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in politics and international affairs, is also a board member at the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation.

Though his private life is kept under wraps, women might not mind having a piece of him...especially if his dad ata nasa the deputy presidency should Nasa win the August 8 polls.

Klein Kalonzo

Kennedy’s younger brother is an alumnus of the University of Nairobi, School of Journalism. He followed his heart and established Heartbeat Media Studios alongside renowned producer Kanyeria.

In 2016, there were reports that Klein was to follow in his father’s footsteps after Mwingi North MP John Munuve declined to return to his former party Wiper, claiming that the former vice president was already preparing his son to take over from him.

But Klein has not confirmed his political aspirations. His hobbies are water rafting, bungee jumping, hanging out with friends and travelling. He recently revealed that he does not like going out. Klein doesn’t hide his love for expensive machines when he showed off his latest Jaguar XF acquisition.

Kigen Moi

The son of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi is a student at Bristol University in England. The 25-year-old followed his father’s love for polo.

The hunk has his mum’s good looks, while his fashion sense and style ranges from fitting suits to rocking designer outfits on a normal day.

Andrew Sean Kibaki

Andrew Sean Kibaki is retired President Kibaki’s grandson. He hit the headlines after eulogising his grandmother, former First Lady Lucy Kibaki.

Sean is a student at the USIU and a model courtesy of his stunning looks. He also made headlines after a nasty public break up with then YouTube star Elodie Zone in 2015. He was then rumoured to be dating Italian model Samali. He however dismissed those claims.

Sean loves travelling and photography and does not hide his love for German machines like the time he flaunted his Sh5 million Audi TT Coupe.

Andrew Kenneth

The son of Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth caught the attention of Kenyan women when he spoke during his father’s presidential bid launch in 2012.

He graduated at an Ivy League University in the UK with two degrees in law and sociology. Andrew is a fan of football and rugby and his favourite teams are the Kenya 7s rugby team and Harambee Stars.

Though the 25-year-old is adored by Kenyan women, little is known of his private life.

Peter Nyong’o Jr

He is the son to Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong’o and the youngest brother to Oscar Award winner Lupita and Zawadi Nyong’o. Junior Nyong’o, as he’s known, made his debut in the limelight when he appeared in show host Ellen Degeneres’ star-studded selfie during the 2014 Oscar awards.

Last month, the 23-year-old graduated from Stetson University in Florida, USA. Junior is an actor by profession and he won Majorie Foster Gilbert Award for Outstanding Student Performer. The bachelor with a good sense of fashion likes playing soccer, reading, and watching movies in his free time.

Michael Orengo

He is the son of Siaya Senator James Orengo. He graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Manchester School of Architecture in the UK. He is also pursuing a leadership programme at Stanford University in the USA.

Currently, he is working with eminent firm, Triad Architects in Nairobi. Michael’s hobbies include spitting rhymes in which he says he can spit fire.
