Opposition leader Raila Odinga has promised miraa farmers in Meru county that if they will elect NASA leadership it will revive the miraa farming sector. He said that as per now miraa farmers are suffering and yet the current Jubilee Government is not addressing their issues.

Speaking at a political rally on Monday in Meru Raila said that miraa farmers have experienced low sales of the commodity since Jubilee came into power. He further said that NASA Government will ensure that the miraa farmers get various markets to sell their miraa.

Raila also said that the Government made false promises to miraa farmers saying that they will form a task force that was going to look at the problems facing miraa farmers.

In addition, he accused the Jubilee Government over misappropriation of funds saying that, that has placed a very big financial burden on common a mwananchi.

According to him, the Government has misappropriated Sh 215 billion, money which could be used to pay the striking doctors, lecturers and even give a salary increment to other civil servants.

The opposition leader hinted that Government Auditor General has confirmed that indeed that money cannot be accounted for.

“Initially I said that the Government is misappropriating the country’s funds but they threatened to jail me if I don’t stop making such allegations. All these can now be confirmed by the Government Auditor General that I was saying the truth. There are missing funds and the Government should come out clear on that,” said Raila.

He concluded by saying that there is a need for the citizens and residents of Meru to rally behind the opposition for a real change to be experienced.
