Police chopper carrying DP Ruto makes emergency landing in Eldama Ravine

Eldama Ravine, Kenya: A helicopter carrying Deputy President William Ruto was forced to make an emergency landing in Eldama Ravine Town on Friday afternoon.

Eldama Ravine OCPD Bernard Kibe said the helicopter was forced to land due to bad weather adding that the region is experiencing rainfall.

The pilot,  who was on his way to Sinonin Secondary school, made the emergency landing at Eldama Ravine Stadium. They travelled by road for a distance of 20km to Poror, the venue of the second function.

"The pilot made an emergency landing but everything is in order, Ruto has already made his way to the venue", the OCPD said.

Others in the Mi-17 Russian made helicopter were Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi, Kinango MP Gonzi Rai, Baringo Central MP Sammy Mwaita, Hellen Sambili (Mogotio), William Cheptumo (Baringo North), Baringo County Women Representative Grace Kiptui and Mosses Lessonet of Eldama Ravine.

The incident occurred after Ruto left Emining Boys High School where he had conducted a fundraising event and was expected in the afternoon at Sinonin Secondary School to officiate an opening ceremony before leaving to Soimining Primary School in Mumberes.
