Governor Mutua demands Sh10M from Gor Mahia for Machakos damages

Local News

Governor Mutua with damaged car

We all know Governor Mutua to take issues concerning his county very seriously. Which is why after the Sundays’ match between Gor Mahia and Sofapaka that left Machakos town in ruins, the County Government of Machakos released a statement banning Gor Mahia from playing any matches in Machakos.

In part it reads ‘Gor Mahia is an amazing football club. However, the violent behaviour of its fans during and after yesterday’s match against Sofapaka FC in Machakos was despicable and unacceptable.

The people of Machakos are peace loving people and love happiness, good things and development but abhor violence.

As a preventive measure and so as to ensure no one is injured or killed after a Gor Mahia or any other football match in Machakos, the County Government of Machakos has banned Gor Mahia Football team from playing in Machakos County Stadium until further notice.’

The release also stated that it was invoicing Gor Mahia football club an estimated Kshs. 10 million as compensation for destroyed County Government and private property.

Naturally, tweets streamed in when the statement was released on the governor’s Facebook page; some in approval and others in total disapproval.

@MayakaClara: #SomeoneTellMutua to search for dowry elsewhere not by coming up with crazy fines!

@MkaleFlani: You can take ban on the fans but you can't ban the Gor out of the fans. #SomeoneTellMutua

@ Stephenouma1: #SomeoneTellMutua what happens outside the stadium is him liable. He should face the Hooligans not the team. #NoShortcut.

@janenjiru: #someonetellmutua I support you 121% on the ban. People must learn to have decorum in a win or a loss.

@LKimanthi: Ban those hooligans; good riddance to bad rubbish! #someonetellmutua

@Amrab23: #someonetellmutua they will need a stone detector for the next match...

@ WHITE_JOINT: #SomeoneTellMutua you should convince other Governors to do the same. We dnt entertain Holiganism

@collins_mugo: #someonetellmutua that he is right... that is what a sober leader should do to #GorHooligans. Nothing less

@Erick_Merchant: #someonetellmutua when you welcome people who least know of development, that's what you get
