Homa Bay Man kills wife, buries her secretly

Police in Homa Bay County are looking for a man, who killed his wife and buried her secretly over alleged infidelity.

Witnesses said the 43-year-old fisherman hit his wife's face with a blunt object before chopping her private parts last Thursday at Magao village in Rachuonyo North sub-county. He then dug a grave and buried the mother of his seven children.

Homa Bay Police Commander John Omusanga confirmed the incident and said the suspect disappeared after committing the act.

According the deceased's brother in-law, who sought anonymity, they were informed of her death by her daughter the following day.

"We could not believe our ears when my brother told us that he had been informed by the girl that her mother had been slain and buried. We went to their home and upon finding the grave, we called police to help us exhume it," he said.

He said the grave was excavated and the body found inside with serious injuries on the face and genital organs.

"We exhumed the body and took it to Gendia Hospital mortuary as investigations continue to ensure the suspect is brought to book. I call upon the locals to co-operate with us," said Omusanga.

The brother-in-law added the couple had been living in persistent squabbles since the man suspected that his wife used to have love affairs with a number of other men.

"Their marriage has been chaotic because my brother had even gone to as far as burning their house in March last year. We had tried to help them bury the hatchet as a family but that never bore any fruit until this incident occurred," he added.

Omusanga expressed concern over escalating cases of domestic violence and called on couples to seek guidance and counseling when faced with difficulties.
