Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto wants administration police officers to report to county governors

The Government should allow governors to handle some security functions, Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has said.

The county chief said the management of administration police should be devolved.

"Part of security should be surrendered by the Government so that some crimes can be contained with ease due to our proximity with the units," he added.

He wondered how minor crimes can be prevented if all security personnel report to a central command in Nairobi who often don't understand the needs of the people.

"The government seems to be suffering from an inferiority complex and has chosen to ignore the need to secure the regions for selfish interests," he said.
