High Court suspends Ngilu's trial on Sh8bn Karen land

The High Court has suspended the corruption case against suspended Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu pending hearing and determination of a petition filed before the court.

Former NSSF Managing Trustee Jos Konzolo applied to have the court suspend the criminal proceedings until a case before the Constitutional and Human Rights Division of the High Court, on the whether an Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission without commissioners can recommend prosecution, is heard and determined.

Justice Gacheru noted that Konzolo had been charged alongside Ngilu and senior lands officials and it was in the interest of justice to temporary stop the proceedings.

Konzolo and senior suspended Ministry of Lands officials have been charged before the Anti-Corruption Court with conspiring to illegally transfer land in Karen and attempting to conceal the transfer.
