CORD MPs ask police to probe Kidero,Khalwale supporters' fight

MOMBASA, KENYA: Two opposition legislatures on Monday called for a truce between Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and Kakamega Senator Dr. Boniface Khalwale saying their wars had created tension in the Cord coalition.

The MPs said the two leaders should seek peaceful ways to solve their differences instead of generating unnecessary tension in the opposition coalition.

Homa Bay MP Peter Kaluma and his Ruaraka counterpart Tom Joseph Kajwang said that court premises was not a place for hooliganism where the warring groups go and shout at each other.

"We condemn in the strongest terms the physical confrontation within court precincts by youths and individuals allied to Governor Kidero and senator Khalwale" said the Mps in Mombasa" said the two MPs.

The war between Senator Khalwale and Kidero started after Kidero moved to the court seeking orders to stop Khalwale from tarnishing his name over claims he was the cause of Mumias Sugar Factory problems.

Khalwale has sustained his onslaught on Kidero claiming he has evidence to show that the Nairobi governor was behind the collapse of Mumias Sugar Company which was recently bailed out by the national government.
Kidero has refuted Khalwale's charge and moved to court to stop Kakamega Senator from linking him to the financial woes facing the miller.

Last week Thursday, supporters of the two clashed outside the Milimani Courts forcing the anti-riot police to fire in the air to separate them.
