Kariobangi Sharks back to winning ways in FKF Premier League

Kariobangi Sharks bounced back to their winning ways after stopping Oserian 2-1 in a Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League match in Naivasha.

It was sweet victory for the Sharks, who last weekend lost 2-1 to visiting Nzoia Sugar. The win enhances their chances of finishing among the top six teams in this league.

Oserian, who are handled by former AFC Leopards captain Nicholas Muyoti, were the first to score when Peter Chesoli netted the opener in the 37th minute.

But Ochieng Ovale scored the equaliser for Sharks on the stroke of half time before Godfrey Okoth netted the winner in the 80th minute.

At Machakos Municipal Stadium, Nairobi Stima subjected Shabana to their second straight defeat with a 2-0 victory yesterday. Goals by Brian Lukanya in the 11th minute and Dennis Opiyo at full time were enough to bring down Shabana.

At Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Zoo Kericho were held to a 1-1 tie by Nakumatt. Gilbert Otieno scored for Kericho in the 27th minute before Peter Nzuki equalised for Nakumatt in the 86th minute. Posta Rangers beat Talanta 3-1 in another match played at Kasarani on Saturday.

Rangers have had a bad run of results and yesterday's enhanced their chances of finishing among the top six teams that will play in next year's Kenyan Premier League (KPL).

Charles PiliPili scored the opener for Rangers in the 38th minute before former Western Stima striker Collins Neto doubled the lead three minutes later.

Ten minutes after the breather, Geoffrey Kataka scored a third for Rangers before Benson Amianda got the consolation goal for Talanta on the 88th minute.

At Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega Homeboyz moved to the summit of the table after a 2-1 win over Ligi Ndogo.

It was the visitors who scored first in the eighth minute through Ken Maritim but it took only one minute for the hosts to draw level when Keiphas Mutuu scored from a disputed penalty. In the 61st minute, Moses Mudavadi scored the second for Kakamega Homeboyz.

In Mombasa, Modern Coast Rangers defeated Nakuru-based side, St Joseph, 1-0. Nzoia were held to a 2-2 draw by Mosca.
