FOOTBALL: Oliech to sponsor Kisumu tourney

Dennis Oliech will next month tour Kisumu County courtesy of WKSA and Ken Oliech Foundation. During the tour, Oliech will sponsor a three-day tournament featuring top teams in the county. Meanwhile, Western Kenya Sports Association Director Bob Agwanda (pictured) has said the recent unlocking of the football league impasse between Football Kenya Federation and Kenya Premier League Ltd by the world football governing body Fifa should be geared towards local football development. Agwanda, who congratulated FKF and KPL officials, called on FKF President Sam Nyamweya to involve key football stakeholders in football matters.

FOOTBALL: Kisumu Leeds stop Manyatta Utd

Kisumu Leeds Ladies FC under-14 team opened their league title chase with a 2-0 win over Manyatta United Ladies FC during the Kisumu Youth Football Association (KYFA) 2015 season launch at the weekend. Mercy Akoth scored a brace during the encounter played at Shaurimoyo in  Kisumu. In the second match, Port Florence held Bayern FC to a barren draw in the league sponsored by United Millers to the tune of Sh390,000 this season. The launch was graced by area MCA, Prisca Auma, football great Peter Dawo, KYFA Trustee Frederik Eijkman and Kisumu Branch FKF Secretary Dickson Oruko. KYFA programmes Manager Kevin Obware thanked United Millers for their sponsorship.
