Two brothers killed by speeding car in Naivasha

Naivasha, Kenya: A family's Christmas celebrations in Naivasha was cut short after two of their sons were hit and killed by a speeding vehicle along the Naivasha-Kinangop road.

The deceased were on their way home from a popular joint in the area on the eve of Christmas day when they were hit by the speeding car.

The driver, who was reported to be drunk, escaped from the scene of the accident but members of the public managed to track and arrest him.

According to a witness James Kabono, the two brothers were heading towards Karati Center when the late night accident occurred.

Kabono said the driver, who was in high speed, lost control and run over the two, who were walking by the roadside.

"The two middle aged brothers died on the spot while the driver, who had left a bar, escaped though his vehicle was identified," he said.

Kabono praised police for responding fast to the incident adding that the driver was nabbed hiding in a nearby maize plantation.

A senior police officer, who declined to be named, said that the driver was being held at the Naivasha Police Station.
