Jubilation greets withdrawal of President Kenyatta’s ICC case

NAIROBI – Jubilation and excitement greeted news of the withdrawal of the International Criminal Court case against President Uhuru Kenyatta

Businesspeople attending the Kenya Private Sector Alliance 3rd Presidential Round Table at State House, Nairobi, erupted in joy, hugs and high fives as they congratulated the President when they received news of withdrawal of the case.

Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed – who interrupted the meeting to break the news – said it was the best news the country had received this year.

She expressed optimism that the cases facing Deputy President William Ruto and Journalist Joshua Sang would also be terminated.

“It is our hope and prayer that the two other Kenyan cases at the ICC will also be dropped in due course,” the Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary said.

A visibly excited President Kenyatta was lost for words upon receiving the news at the round table meeting.

All the President said was: “I am very excited,” President Kenyatta said.
