AMBITIOUS TARGET: Mwamba seek to extend winning ways against Western Bulls, as Nondies face Catholic University in Kenya Cup matches

Mwamba RFC are looking forward to a second consecutive league win as they take on Western Bulls in Kenya Cup match this weekend.

Club captain Salaton Muturi said the Black shirts are confident ahead of the match, due to their brilliant start last weekend where they beat Impala 40-29 in a fast paced match. "It was a good win for us, it was morale boosting and we are feeling confident of our chances against Western Bulls," Muturi told FeverPitch.

"We know the conditions will not be the same but we will have to adapt accordingly," he added.

Muturi claims Impala and Western Bulls do not play the same style of rugby and they are expecting a number of variables to have an influence on the match. "It is an away game and that means we have to travel to Western Kenya, which will definitely influence how we play on the day," he explained.

"The weather will also play a huge factor, when we played against Impala it was a dry sunny day hence we were able to use a much free-flowing game plan, we expect the opposite in Kakamega where it may be raining and quite muddy, this means we will have to be more technical at the break-down and to slow down the game a bit," he added.

Mwamba and Western Bulls registered wins last weekend and they are hoping they will not lose their first points this weekend. This match will be the second match of the day at the Kakamega High School, where Kabras are also expected to host defending champions Nakuru RFC.

Kabras coach Anthony Ogot has expressed confidence in his troops, saying that if they were able to hold KCB last weekend to a narrow loss, then they also have the potential to tame the champions.

Nakuru, on the other end, registered a massive victory last weekend. They beat beat Catholic University 112-6 to claim an early lead in the league.

Catholic University, however, will get a chance to save their face this weekend when they take on Nondies RFC at the Jamhuri grounds. Nondies lost 19-17 to Western Bulls last weekend and look like a side that Catholic University will fancy their chances against.

In the other matches of the weekend, the University of Nairobi will play host to two matches with Kenyatta University's Blak Blad playing against Strathmore university, while the hosts University of Nairobi will play Kenya Harlequin. The final match of the weekend will see Mombasa RFC host Kenya Commercial Bank at the Mombasa Sports Club.
