Utalii College to partner with international hotel brand

Nairobi; Kenya: Hospitality training institution, Utalii College, has announced a partnership with an international hotel brand to boost its training capacity.

Utalii College Principal Dr Kenneth Ombongi said this will entail collaboration to offer post college, on-job training to Utalii’s best students.

“We are holding discussions with the management of Villa Rosa Kempiski with a view of enhancing collaboration on the field of training that will benefit youths from underprivileged backgrounds gain admission to Utalii’s food production apprenticeship programme on Kempiski’s sponsorship,’’ Ombongi said.

During the college’s 39th graduation ceremony and launch of college’s strategic plan for 2013-2018, Ombongi noted that out of the 577 graduands, 303 have gotten job placements in the hospitality industry.

He said that Serena Group of Hotels and Sarova Group have recruited some of the graduands. Other hotels that have tapped into Utalii’s pool are Enashipai from Naivasha, Vila Rosa Kempinsinki and Pride Inn.

“We also have a standing MOU with the Inter Continental Group, which recruits more than six students every year from us. The Tamarind Group has always stood by us. Utalii College is humbled by the support from the tourism industry,’’ he said.
