Chuka town to finally have tarmacked roads

The Government has set aside Sh300 million to upgrade roads in Chuka town, which has never had tarmacked roads.

The town, established alongside Embu and Meru towns in 1913, will now have roads leading to institutions like hospitals, schools, law courts, police station and banks tarmacked.

Chuka Igamba Ng'ombe MP Muthomi Njuki (above) said construction of the roads would boost the town's economy and encourage businessmen to invest.

Mr Njuki said growth of the town had stagnated due to frustration by business tycoons, who have built on road reserves and are opposing the demolition of buildings to pave the way for roads.

"The town has not experienced much growth in terms of infrastructure and general development. Apart from the highway heading to Meru, there isn't even a single inch of paved road in the town or any other part of the constituency. The roads will improve access," he said.
