A Vihiga man claims he spends sleepless nights fighting his late wife’s demons.

James Kisianga Evereso (pictured) told The Nairobian that his wife was buried  in her father’s home, which is not according to tradition.

“Since my wife was buried in her own home and not mine it has been tough for me and my two children. She always ‘comes back’ during the night and demands to know why she was not buried in the correct manner,” said Evereso, adding, “I fear because I am living a distraught life. I fear because this may turn to be a curse on my manhood.”

The Nairobian learnt that Evereso filed a petition at Kakamega High Court to compel his in-law, Richard Mulamba to exhume the body of wife, Sheila Amaiza Amudavi.

According to an affidavit he swore in the court, it indicates that Sheila died on January 14, 2015 and that his in-law proceeded to bury her body after acquiring a burial permit.

Mulamba illegally sneaked and took the body of my wife without my knowledge and buried her. Upon questioning, he threatened to injure me,” Evereso submitted.

I have reached the proverbial wall, I can’t sleep, my children are traumatized and I am unsettled ever since my wife was buried by my in-laws,” he told The Nairobian, “I need any help to have her body buried in my land.”
