Gospel singer Bahati denies breaching contract for German show

Bahati is not an amused young man after reports that he breached a contract surfaced on media.

In our Monday Blues segment, we reported that a German-based Kenyan promoter, Nancy Dietz, was threatening to sue Mama’s boy for alleged breach of contract.

Bahati was to perform alongside comedian Fred Omondi in Stuttgart, Germany on the 6th of December this year but cancelled the visit at the eleventh hour.

In a phone interview with Bahati, he clarified that there was no breach of contract. In fact, he insists that the promoter Nancy was unprofessional from the get go.

“Nancy was trying to get this gig done on a friendly basis without spelling out the important aspects. She refused to declare the amount to be paid, there was no provision of plane tickets or even accommodation,” the star explained.

On allegations that he went to social media to announce that the event had been cancelled, Bahati insists he announced his cancellation, not the cancellation of the entire event.

“The promoter was using my name to advertise the event despite us not having signed an agreement. I needed to inform my fans who I did not want to let down. I love my fans and would have loved to attend but these kinds of trips cost money. That the promoter proved to be untrustworthy is very unfortunate,” the singer concludes.

In the post announcing his cancellation, Bahati apologized to all those who made the long journey to see him on stage. He promised to visit Germany very soon…with better event management.
