Deputy President William Ruto has put criminals operating in Bungoma County on notice.

“I am happy - after I visited Bungoma County when insecurity incidents were getting out of hand in May, security agents were able to contain the situation. We are warning criminals that we will not negotiate with them,” said Ruto during an inter-denominational church service in Kapsokwony, Mt Elgon.

Ruto, who was joined by over 10 MPs from the region, assured Bungoma residents that the government is fully focused on ensuring all citizens are safe. He called on leaders to work together regardless of their political parties.

Ruto said the Jubilee government will work with all leaders irrespective of their political affiliations.

This was just as some MPs from western Kenya declared their support for Jubilee regime as one senator from the region opposed the move.

MPs led by Lugari MP Ayub Savula on Sunday pledged to work with the government for the region’s benefit.

But separately, Kakamega Senator Boniface Khalwale accused both Savula and Malava MP Malulu Injendi of “sleeping with the enemy”.

“I hear Ruto has identified Savula and Injendi to spearhead Jubilee’s agenda in Western. Stop embarrassing us,” the senator was quoted as saying.
