Kenya National Highways Authority gives list of roads to avoid during the rainy season

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a notice to motorists, cautioning them on the use of some roads as floods continue to wreak havoc in different parts of the country.

In an advisory they shared on social media, they cautioned motorists using the Kibwezi-Mutomo-Kitui Road that a section had been overtopped due to the heavy rains.

They have asked motorists to be extra cautious when using the following routes:

• · Siembeni Centre, 5 kilometres from Kibwezi Town
• · Kisayani Centre, 11 kilometres from Kibwezi Town
• · Muangeni Centre, 38 kilometres from Kibwezi Town
• · Kyoani Shopping Centre, 63 kilometres from Kibwezi town
• · Mosa Shopping Centre, 30 kilometres from Kitui Town
• · Chuluni Shopping Centre, 10 kilometres from Kitui Town

Motorists have been asked to wait until water levels subside.

KeNHA also cautioned motorists using Mai Mahiu - Narok Road, especially around Suswa area that the traffic flow will experience interruptions due to the heavy siltation and debris from the surrounding hills.

These are the road sections where extra caution should be taken:

• · Satellite Centre, 12 kilometres from Mai Mahiu
• · Suswa ndogo Centre, 17 kilometres from Mai Mahiu
• · Suswa ndogo Centre, 23 kilometres from Mai Mahiu

The authority has promised 24-hour surveillance of the situation along the Mai Mahiu – Narok Road.
