COVID-19: Sabina Chege helps cushion commercial sex workers in Murang’a

Murang'a Women Representative Sabina Chege on Monday May 25, came to the aid of commercial sex workers in her
county after they reached out to her.
Through her Facebook page, the legislator stated that Gacheri, chair to the commercial sex workers in Murang'a, asked for her help due to the hardships brought by COVID-19 pandemic.
The women rep says she distributed food to last each of them a week
adding that there are about 106 commercial sex workers in Murang'a town.
“Today I honored their call and did distribution of food that will push each one of them for a week. The total number of such individuals in Murang'a Town being 106,” said the women rep.
Sabina also promised
the women that she’ll find a long lasting solution for them provided they quit
their current jobs.
She encouraged them to get into other business such as hair dressing and baking to help them make ends meet.
“We have agreed with them that I will find a long lasting solution that will be putting food on their table with a promise of quitting that business. They did agree to engage in businesses such as hair dressing, dress making and baking,” added Sabina.
The situation is
Muranga is no different to other areas as people countrywide complain of the
financial constraints brought forth by the pandemic.
