College girl hires five men to discipline boyfriend, they end up killing him

A 21-year-old student at Utalii College in Nairobi allegedly hired five men to discipline her boyfriend but they ended up killing him.

The Nyeri High Court on Thursday heard that Esther Wambui together with her mother Rosemary Nyawira were behind the brutal killing of Dennis Okumu, a matatu tout in Githurai, on February 3, 2018.

Corporal Eliud Odhiambo testified that Wambui lured her lover to her mother’s home in Karatina where she intended to discipline him for physically abusing her.

The deceased had enjoyed a meal at his in-laws’ home and was killed while being escorted to where he was to sleep.

“The family had hired five assailants to discipline the deceased but it turned tragic and they ended up killing him,” Odhiambo.

Okumu’s body was dumped at Kirimara in Mathira East sub-county and had multiple stab wounds in the neck.

His eyes had also been gorged out and some of his front teeth were missing.

According to police, after realizing that Okumu was dead, Wambui and her mother paid a boda boda operator Sh3,000 to dump the body.

It further emerged that prior to his demise, the deceased had initially been attacked and injured by a group of thugs who stormed his girlfriend’s house.

The case will be heard on June 4, 2019.
