Letter to the President: Please act NOW!

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s silence over dams’ scandals is ‘too loud’ now. Kenyans have heard and seen enough via media outlets.

What every Kenyan patriot is looking forward to now is action. Kenyans are so uncomfortable with the shocking reality that billions have been embezzled. This is their money hence their worry is justified.

The President should bank on political goodwill to slay this monster called corruption, now that the famous handshake seemed to unite former foe and friend for a single purpose; the unity and prosperity of the country.

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has condemned graft and former premier Raila Odinga has also thrown in his weight in bolstering this fight.

It now remains for the President to come out clear, not only in words only but also in action, on this matter.

The President has said several times that when it comes to corruption, every implicated individual, regardless of their status or even relationship with him; must carry their own cross. This must not be a talk only.

He has powers bestowed upon him by the constitution to hire and dismiss even cabinet secretaries. He should not shy away from executing his mandate appropriately.

A time comes that even kindness becomes too much; and the need for application of the law in full force becomes inevitable. Such a time is now.

At a time when secondary schools in the country are struggling to accommodate large numbers of students, due to lack of enough funds and infrastructure, and nurses striking leaving patients at the clemency of mother nature and grace, a few individuals must not be allowed to joke with the taxpayers’ hard-earned money.

These people, whoever they are, should be held responsible. Mr President, please act.
