Sonko’s promise to candidates who will score above 400 marks in Nairobi public schools

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Friday distributed cards and other exam materials to KCPE candidates in Nairobi public schools.

During the exercise, the governor promised to sponsor secondary education for all candidates who will score above 400 marks in the examination.

“Earlier today I led the distribution exercise and promised the candidates that my administration will sponsor the candidates who’ll score above 400 marks in the KCPE exams,” he said.

The KCPE exam is set to kick off on November 2, 2018, a couple of days after the KCSE which will start next week.

On Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta warned those who attempt to leak the national examinations of dire consequences.

Speaking during the launch of the inaugural international conference on Early Childhood Development (ECD), the Head of State said the Government would take strong measures against any attempts to steal or leak the tests.

“My administration has taken bold measures to make examinations credible and I commend those who work hard and long hours to achieve this.

“I condemn those who insist on corrupting our exam system and we will go for them,” said Uhuru.

Uhuru further assured candidates that they would be shielded from individuals who wished to take advantage of their situation.

“Our future as a country depends on our children. We are ready to protect them against unscrupulous people hell-bent to destroy their lives," he said.
