Jose Mourinho reveals shocking lengths he is willing to go to sign Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is a man with a lot of thinking to do come summer.

His team, though good on paper in terms of player quality, has failed to match noisy neighbours Manchester City’s standards, at the moment, 15 points behind the league leaders.

Man United has failed to convince its fan base that it is a team capable of competing with the likes of PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

This is due to shambolic performances in this season’s Premier League against top opposition, much recently, a 2-0 loss to Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham at the Wembley Stadium.

Mourinho has also faced criticism from top football pundits for his style of play – Defensive – as several of them refer to it.

However, with the acquisition of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal for 60 million euros, a swap deal that saw seven-time Armenian player of the year Henrikh Mkhitaryan move to the Emirates, there is renewed hope that the club’s intention of signing only the best players is real.

According to an article published in The Mirror on Saturday, February 3rd, Manchester United have reignited their pursuit of Welsh-Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale.

The article says Mourinho is willing to sell David De Gea, possibly one of the world’s best goalkeepers in order to convince Los Blancos to sell them the Welshman.

Real Madrid, for the last three seasons, have publicly made De Gea their top target – considering the fact that a last-minute fax machine error on deadline day saw the Spaniard fail to complete a move to the European champions.

At the end of the 2017-18 season, Zinedine Zidane’s men are expected to make a move for De Gea again.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Real Madrid will allow Bale to leave only if Man United sell them their keeper.

The Spain number 1 said he was happy at United back in January 2017, quashing rumours about him pushing to go back home.

Just like Sir Alex Ferguson was forced to up his game 11 years ago when Mourinho (Chelsea coach then) won back to back Premier League titles, ‘The Special One’ is reportedly plotting to bring big names to Old Trafford next season, hopefully to match the Citizens’ caliber and initiate a push for the title once more.

Gareth Bale looks destined to lead this charge if Man United sign him, but they would have to let De Gea go.
