Rivalry escalates further as Raila's campaign enterts volatile area amid major cracks in ODM

NASA presidential candidate's tour to Migori County scheduled for this Friday could be the next headline maker after the manifesto launch razzmatazz in the country that has seen both Jubilee and NASA delve into a whose is best war of words.

Migori County is politically volatile and the gubernatorial race has not been an easy ride from the onset as chaotic incidences emerged as candidates sought the coveted ODM party ticket.

In the county it is believed an ODM ticket is as good as a direct ticket to parliament or to he county seats.

Governor Okoth Obado who is the ODM party candidate expects a boost from Mr Odinga presidential campaign in the area since the party has clung unshakably onto the persistent calls to the electorate to ensure a six piece vote in the August polls.

His top contender Ochilo Ayako, an independent candidate who has stepped up a serious onslaught pegging his allegiance to Mr Odinga has called on his supporters to turn up in large numbers and welcome the ODM party leader.

Over the weekend, Obado had similarly moved around the county informing his supporters of the planned rally out of which he expects major endorsements from the NASA leaders expected to be in attendance.

Before the April party nominations exercise, ODM deputy party leader Hassan Joho,Kisumu Senator Anyang' Nyong'o among other leaders were caught in a mess as supporters of Mr Obado clashed with those of Ochilo Ayako.

The governor blamed the leaders for failing to involve him before holding the aborted rally at Posta grounds causing the angst that saw many people injured.

Obado accused the leaders of potting to favour Ayako in the party primaries which he was to contender for the ticket even though hew won in the 2013 elections after he lost in the ODM ticket battle.

All is not well with the county's ODM leadership as two factions are emerging with each of them lashing counter accusations towards each other.

Two riaval leaders Philip Makabong'o and Festus Mapesa are planning to have the party leader visit their two different offices but earlier on there were plans and calls for the firing of Mr Makabong'o but there has been no clarifications from the ODM party over the splits.

Mr Odinga last week was forced to abandon his address in Rarieda Constituency where supporters of the area MP Nicholas Gumbo seemed disgruntled by the party's asking them to only vote for ODM candidates.

Gumbo is an independent candidate for the Siaya County gubernatorial race against Govenor Rasanga who won the ODM party ticket amid rigging claims.

Mr Odinga might have learned from the earlier chaotic experience and is likely to play smart politics as the two rivals for the Migori seat are expected to be part of his campaign trail on Friday.
