Mixed reactions as two men are handed a ten-year jail term for undressing their mother and forcing her to drink her urine

A number of people have reacted differently concerning a case whereby two men were slapped a ten-year jail term for forcing their mother to drink her urine.

The two Josphat Chesire and Kippkorir Kitui appearing before the court on Thursday were accused of doing the heinous act in June 2015.

The two in their defense said that they did so in an effort to treat their mother who was sick. They further revealed they were forced to do so because of their culture.

According to judge Samson Temu that was not right and it was infringing on the rights of their mother.Temu said whether or not their tradition allowed them to do so they have no right under the law to do such an act.

“What you did was not treating your mother, you forced her to undress and forced her to take her own urine something your mother did expect you as her sons to do. The first mistake of beating her will earn you three years in jail and the second one of undressing her and forcing her to drink her urine will earn you ten years in jail. All the years combined is ten years in jail,” said Temu.

According to Harun Said their community does not advocate for such a thing and the two deserve to be punished. His sentiments were echoed by Stella.

“In our community as Muslims we respect our parents...and we also worship them as mother and father so it’s upon those who did that but if he or she is from my community then else,” said Saidi.

“God have mercy...yaani thy have forgotten the parent is the second God.iyo ni laana,” said Stella

On the other hand, Missy Penny said that, that was a very harsh punishment and the two did not deserve it. “I think that's too harsh... after all urine is medicinal,” said Penny.
