Jubilee government is turning to dictatorship

The time has come for Kenyans of goodwill to wake up and raise their voices strongly against the ills of the Jubilee regime.

It is now evident that the regime is hell-bent on turning Kenya into a totalitarian and authoritarian state where the Government controls every instrument of power both within and without its possession, with the muting of dissenting opinions taking centre stage.

The leaders seem to be under a strict oath to return the country to the dark days when no alternative voices were encouraged and authoritarianism, if not dictatorship, seemed to be the order of the day.

They seem to be doing this devoid of the knowledge that they will someday be on the other side - in the cold.

Since coming to power in 2013, the Jubilee administration has shown little respect or appreciation for the separation of powers that exists among the three arms of Government.

We have continued to witness this every day with Parliament being reduced to a state docket that rubber stamps virtually everything from the Executive simply because the ruling party enjoys the majority membership in the Senate and the National Assembly.

This has significantly reduced the independence, role and significance of Parliament in carrying out its duties, and has in essence almost made our presidential system ineffective because there are no effective checks and balances.

I am therefore calling on the lovers of democracy and constitutionalism to double their efforts in fighting for a democratic, transparent, accountable, peaceful and prosperous Kenya. A Kenya that will remain united through its diversity. This is not going to be easy but it is something that must be done
