WESTLANDS MP DISMISSES CLAIMS THAT KIBAGARE LAND BELONGS TO NAIROBI SCHOOL

Westlands Member of Parliament Timothy Wanyonyi has dismissed claims that a section of controversial land in Kibagare slum area belongs to Nairobi School saying it is not true barely a day after the Statehouse land summit.

"The National Lands Commission has been informed and is looking into the Kibagare land issue but I do not think the claims that the land belongs to a school are true. The matter should be investigated keenly before any evacuation is made,“ said the MP.

While in an interview on Tuesday morning, Mr. Wanyonyi said members of the public had been using the land for several years and it will be fair if it the government finds where they will settle if at all they will be asked to vacate the area.

He said land within his constituency had attracted many people as a hectare could sale at about Ksh 1 billion and hence could easily be subject to illegal acquisition.

He has called on the lands ministry and the commission to rightfully issue title deeds in good time to evade possible controversy on land in the area.

He has further expressed confidence in his reelection bid saying he is ready to face off whoever wishes to unseat him in 2017.

"When you are in the house, an enemy needs to be very strong to come and face you. He needs strength double what you have and having served the people of Westlands well, I am ready to compete with anyone," He said.

Mr. Wanyonyi said he had not seen or heard of anyone interested in the Westlands Parliamentary seat.

Speaking on the Nairobi gubernatorial race, he affirmed that Governor Kidero still stands a higher chance to retain his office given his familiarization with the City system of administration.

He said only Jubilee should be worrying about the capital's top seat as ODM would still pocket it.
