Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has urged Kenyans to change the famous ‘Kagwe Special’ from one sausage and two bottles of beer to two sausages and one soda.

Speaking during a press briefing at Afya House, CS Kagwe said some bars had started selling snacks to disguise themselves as eateries.

“Ukiwa kwenye restaurant, ujue huwezi kuuza pombe. Kuna zile bar ambazo zilikuwa zimeanza kuuza mandazi na samosa pamoja na pombe…Hao pia wajue hakuna kuuza pombe…labda waendeleze biashara ya mandazi”

(If you operate a restaurant you are not allowed to sell alcohol. There are some bars that had started selling mandazi and samosas…then they would sneak in a drink. They may have to continue selling mandazis.)

Kagwe also warned Kenyans against unnecessary travel saying this is the time to practice individual responsibility by saving your neighbour.

“We must be prepared... If you don't need to travel upcountry don't. If you can stop visiting people, stop.

“This is individual responsibility. If you protect me I will protect you,” he said.

The CS also cautioned leaders who will be caught breaking the law saying no one will be spared.

“There will be no ‘sacred’ people… We have witnessed leaders violating the rules… We have instructed public health officers at counties to close down all violating premises…

“Covid-19 haitambui VIP…You will be caught and charged in court no matter your status,” he asserted.

This comes as the country recorded 606 new positive cases, taking the national tally to 18581.

There were 75 recoveries but unfortunately 14 patients succumbed to the virus.

Kagwe also warned that Embakasi area had recorded high numbers in recent weeks and the government might enforce further measures to curb the spread of the virus.
