This year's award will be honoring individuals who stood out during lockdown

Azziad Nasenya, the 19-year-old Kenyan TikTok queen has been nominated for the South Africa-based Starqt Awards.

The media student and actress who recently stared in TV series Selina will battle it out with famous TikTok stars, among them Mc Shem from Nigeria and Witney Ramabulana from South Africa in the Best TikTok Act 2020 category.

Azziad came to the spotlight when her dance video to Femi One's collabo with Mejja - Utawezana - went viral. The teen has yet again been recognized for standing out during the Covid-19 lockdown.

This year, Starqt Awards marks its 7th anniversary with focus on lifestyle, entertainment, unsung heroes, business, community, global, health and sports categories. This year's award will be honoring individuals who stood out during lockdown.

An excited Azziad extended her gratitude to Starqt Awards and her fans, saying  "I would like to thank Starqt for this nomination,  I feel greatly honored. I am also grateful to my fans without whom I would not have made it this far. Thank you, and to all those who love my content and continue to follow and support me, I would like to call upon you to vote for me."

The voting process begins November 10, and the Awards ceremony is scheduled for November 28  in South Africa. Starqt Awards, founded in 2014 lives on the goal to unite, acknowledge, recognize, celebrate and reward trail blazers who are positively impacting their communities by encouraging others to reach for the sky and go for their goals.
