Nairobi City Stars maintained their impressive start to the National Super League after trashing Migori Youths’ nine-match unbeaten run in a 2-1 win over the visitors at Camp Toyoyo.

Wycliffe Otieno and Oliver Maloba’s goals were enough to hand coach Sanjin Alagi? his 10th win of the season and maintaining the former Kenya Premier League outfit’s lead at the helm of the standings with 32 points.

Speaking to Standard Sports, City Stars captain Calvins Masawa said they were determined to maintain their lead at the top, with their main objective being to return to topflight football next season.

“We have been working as a united team under an excellent coach with a goal of finishing top at the end of the season. We are training hard after each game and we hope to maintain the winning form,” Masawa said.

Nairobi Stima leapfrogged Bidco United and went second in the standings with 26 points after thrashing hosts St Joseph Youth 3-1 in Nakuru courtesy of goals from Benjamin Chaka, Victor Ochami and Ibrahim Elias.

Vihiga United went joint third with Bidco with 25 points after defeating them 1-0 in Thika where Mount Kenya United lost 1-0 to Muranga Seals.

Ushuru were the biggest winners of the weekend after thrashing Talanta 4-0 as Shabana held Eldoret Youth to a 1-1 draw.

Other results saw Coast Stima bounce back to winning ways with a 3-2 win over novices Vihiga Bullets as APS Bomet moved out of the relegation zone with a 2-0 win over Administration Police.

Modern Coast Rangers, however, fought back to draw 2-2 against Fortune Sacco and stay two points above the relegation zone.
