Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya to monitor sports federations’ compliance to World Anti-Doping code

Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (Adak) will monitor sports federations’ compliance to World Anti-Doping code.

Adak Chief Executive Officer Japhter Rugut said sports federations should abide by Adak rules.

“We have held two forums with sports federations and sensitized them on the requirements of the World Anti-Doping code and the need to ensure compliance,” said Rugut.

He said: “In the same forums, we had a good number of the federations signing commitment to stick to anti-doping mechanisms. The time has now come for us to start auditing how far the federations have gone in the implementation of this requirement.”

The Anti-Doping rules are adopted and implemented in accordance with Adak’s responsibilities under the World Anti-Doping code and efforts to eradicate doping in sport in Kenya. 

The rules make it mandatory for all sports federations to recognize the authority of the agency as well as ensuring that their respective constitutions have clauses on promotion of anti-doping practices failure to which they can be deregistered by the Registrar of Sports.
