Motorsport: Weekend Hill Climb competition postponed due to unforeseen reasons

Aberdares Hillclimb A Mitsubishi Evo 8 in action during a past KNRC event. Shell, the company that distributes and markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, has injected excitement into the Aberdares Hillclimb by sponsoring this weekend’s Hill Climb competition.

The organizers have released a statement saying they have been forced to postpone the second round of the series, which was to be sponsored by Chloride Exide.

Devan Jadeja, the Event Director failed to give exact reasons for the postponement but said they were now looking forward to the final event on November 24-25.

“Due to unseen circumstances, the organizers of the forthcoming Second Round of the Chloride Exide Hill Climb Championship regret to inform all our entrants and supporters that the event is officially postponed,” said Devan Jadeja, the Event Director.

The sprint event has become synonymous with the spectators and competitors having attracted a large number of fans and 50 different competitors when Onkar Rai won the first round of the series couple of months ago.

The Abedare Hills provided the organizers with the special venue of a three-kilometer stretch from the bottom of the hill at 1942 meters to the top at 2106 meters above sea level.

Machines varying from ordinary rally cars to buggies and motorcycles were seen in action at the hands of some of the most renowned competitors in the local scene. [Standard Sports]
