Why Lionel Messi did a dance celebration after scoring for Barcelona against Athletic Bilbao

We've all seen Lionel Messi score goals in the past, and we've all seen him celebrate them. Many, many, many times. But there was something a little different on Sunday.

Because when the Argentinean ace found the net with the second goal in the Catalans' routine 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao at the Nou Camp, he produced a funny little dance to celebrate the feat.

Yep, you read that right. Lionel Messi dancing. One a football pitch.

What a time to be alive.

You probably want to see it now, don't you?

Messi pointed up to the stands after scoring his goal, leading many to wonder just why he did the dance.

There were several theories including that it was a tribute to his recently born son Ciro and that had been taught the dance by new Barca signing Yerry Mina, who also loves to shake it when it a goal is scored.

But the answer was far simpler.

It was just a little tribute to his good friend Luis Suarez.

Catalan TV channel Esports RAC1 reported that Messi's dance was a private joke between him, Suarez and the pair's families, with the Uruguayan - who was missing the match through suspension - stationed up in the private box to where Messi pointed after the goal.

So will we be seeing the dance more often or was this a one-time thing?

Maybe we'll have to wait for Suarez's next suspension to find out.
