Truck driver found dead in Naivasha

Police in Naivasha are investigating a bizarre incident in which a man who had attacked his neighbor and bitten off his lip was found dead in Longonot trading center.

The body of the deceased who is a lorry driver was found off the Naivasha-Longonot road as the victim was admitted to a private hospital in Mai Mahiu town.

Trouble started after the deceased found his neighbor in a compromising position with his wife in one of the bars in the sleepy trading center.

A witness said that the deceased got infuriated and attacked the two using a beer bottle, seriously injuring the wife on the head.

The fight escalated further as the two men decided to sort their differences outside the bar as their friends tried to separate them.

"In the process, the deceased managed to bite off the other man's lip before the two were separated and the injured man and the wife rushed to hospital," he said.

He told of their shock when the body of the attacker was found along the highway on Sunday morning with injuries on the back.

"We are not sure if he got the injuries from the fight or if some people followed and attacked him but police are investigating the matter," he said on Sunday.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the incident, adding that the injured man and the woman were in stable condition.

"The body of the lorry driver was collected and taken to the area mortuary and we have opened an inquest file following the bizarre incident," he said.

Meanwhile, a family in Karagita Naivasha has been left in shock after their kin committed suicide in their house hours after arriving from Eldoret town.

The middle-aged man took his life using a rope in the sprawling estate in unclear circumstances minutes after his brother had left for his workplace.

In the last couple of months, cases of suicide in the lakeside town have been on the rise with the use of drugs, depression, and unemployment blamed for the vices.

The OCPD confirmed the incident noting that the deceased did not leave behind a suicide note as police moved in to investigate the case.
