Two suspected phone-snatchers were on Thursday burnt in Nakuru Town, with one of the victims succumbing to his burn injuries at the scene.

The other suspect was taken to hospital in critical condition, police said.

Nakuru East Sub-County Police Commander Elena Kabukuru told The Standard that the male suspects, who were aboard a motorbike, attempted to snatch a phone from a pedestrian, leading to their pursuit by, among others, boda boda operators.

The suspects were cornered at the Geoffrey Kamau Avenue, doused in petrol and set alight.

Police arrived at the scene, and rescued one of the suspects, who hadn’t lost his life at the time.

The deceased was taken to a Nakuru hospital morgue.
