President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed that he will not support Members of Parliament in their quest to demand a higher pay than what is stipulated by the Salaries and remuneration Commission (SRC).

Speaking when he met heads of schools at Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi Thursday, Uhuru reiterated he would not sign any Bill by legislators pushing for their salary raise.

“We're not on the same page. I’ll not endorse any increase even if they want to hate me. When they were contesting for the seats, they knew the salaries so they cannot turn around even before they are sworn in and start complaining,” he said.

Uhuru was reacting to statements by some MPs-elect who said that the amount allocated to them was not enough. Homa Bay MP-elect Glasdys Wanga Wednesday kicked off the storm that has led to a massive public outcry from members of the Public.

Suba North MP-elect Millie Odhiambo too supported Wanga’s assertions, claiming that the money a legislator earns was not enough to enable them get by.

The President also called on NASA leader Raila Odinga to accept the Supreme Court judgement on the presidential petition.
