Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has led a demonstration in Kisii Town demanding for the return to work of the Chinese Contractor working on the Kisii-Ahero Highway.

The demonstrators have vowed to block the Kisii-Migori road until the contractor is talked to and given humble time to work.

The demonstrators walked more than 20 kilometres to the County Commissioner's office in the town's CBD.

According to Onyonka, the recent Executive Orders by President Uhuru Kenyatta gives the County Commissioner powers to supervise Government projects and she should not wait any further but give proper directions.

We are not going to beg for better services. Civil disobedience is the way to go and there is no turning back. Work has to be done because we are part of the tax payers," said Onyonka.

He added: "As the area MP we will not sit and watch people embezzle public funds with doctorial tendencies."

Currently vehicles plying Kisii-Migori road are using alternative routes after demonstrators lit bonfires on the main Highway.

Last week the Chinese Contractor moved his equipment from the site citing harassment from a specific Kisii County Government Officials.
