A pupil’s hope of becoming a neurosurgeon was restored after Kisumu Central Constituency Development Fund awarded him a full scholarship.

Cyprian Omondi, who got 410 marks out of the possible 500 in KCPE, at Kibuye Mixed Primary School was awarded the four-year scholarship by area MP Ken Obura after The Standard highlighted his plight a week ago.

Omondi, who had been admitted at Maranda High School, could have missed joining the institution as his father, a water vendor, could not afford to pay his fees.

“I am happy for the scholarship and I want to work hard so that I do not disappoint my MP and the entire constituents, whose taxes have been channelled towards my education,” said Omondi.

“I have no reason to worry. I am very grateful to God, who has intervened to save my son,” said his father Dominic Oduor. Mr Oduor took his son to Maranda on Monday for admission.
